I’m working on a story right now and was writing a scene in which one character was cupping another character’s scrotum (I tried to be more delicate with the terminology, but the word “cup” was still used), and a little blue line appeared under the word “cup.”
This will happen in Microsoft Word when you’ve made a typing error that isn’t a typo but isn’t grammatically correct, either. Using “too” when it should be “to,” for example. A common one I run into is when I’m typing too fast and accidentally write “bale” instead of “able.” “Bale” is a real word spelled correctly, but it’s usually obvious that it’s not the right word to use in that context.
I right-clicked on the blue squiggle, and Word is suggesting I change “cup” to “cut.”
